Objective:
- To understand the System Maintenance changes made to Base64 images.
Environment:
- PolicyStat
Additional Information:
Base64 images are not attached to the policy. They are, instead, encoded into the web page which requires them to use significantly more memory when loading the policy.
Images can become Base64 encoded if drag-and-drop is used to add them to the policy or HTML code is cut and pasted rather than using the Upload Attachment functionality of the PolicyStat Editor.
Answer:
Due to the increased server demand caused by Base64 images, performance issues such as slow load times, problems with Track Changes functionality, grayed-out Editor toolbar buttons, and others may occur.
The recurring system maintenance will remove the encoding and correctly attach the image to the policy in order to prevent any of these issues from arising.
If system maintenance is performed on your policy, changes will be noted in the document history as an Administrative Override.
