The PolicyStat HelpGuide tab is an in-product feature that provides guided walk-throughs, resources, and on-demand support without the need to leave PolicyStat.

To find out more about how the HelpGuide tab works, see this article.

Now, we're making it even easier to direct users to an in product walk-through for some of our most frequently requested HelpGuide topics with direct permalinks.

What Are Permalinks?

Permalinks are hyperlinks that directly open an interactive walk-through within PolicyStat for a given topic.

Each topical walk-through contains a specific ID number. With a small change to the URL, any of the relevant walk-throughs can be provided to users who need to know the steps to complete a common task.

How to Use Permalinks for Your Site

The best method to provide permalinks to your users from PolicyStat will vary depending on your site setup, and the method by which your users access PolicyStat:

Read-Only Sharing Link (Guest Access)

If your users click a link to enter PolicyStat, but are not required to log-in or enter credentials on PolicyStat, this is most likely the option you will need. However, if your site uses a third party service to verify their identity via Single-Sign-On, and users are logged in, view the Single Sign On section below.

Using an active Read-Only Guest Access link, add the following text to the end of the existing Guest Access Link.

&next=%2Fhome%2F%3Fwalkme%3D{{HELPGUIDE ID #}}

The text in red {{HELPGUIDE ID #}} must be replaced with the appropriate HelpGuide ID number. The most commonly requested HelpGuide is the Searching walk-through. The Searching walk-through ID is 246289. For a list of the other most common HelpGuides is available below.

A sample URL is displayed below. Any text contained within this sample URL that is bolded and colored red would need to be modified to adapt to local site setup.

Example URL:
http://demo.policystat.com/?lt=pS123ZMuL89NreEhbvAGkl&next=%2Fhome%2F%3Fwalkme%3D246289

  • demo represents the subdomain for your local site.
  • ?lt=pS123ZMuL89NreEhbvAGkl represents the token used with your guest access. This will be unique for each token instance, and can and should be changed regularly. For more on that process, see this article. As a good rule of thumb, this is all the text that follows .com/ when copying the Read-Only Access link.
  • 246289 represents the unique ID number associated with the Searching walk-through. For other common walk-through ID numbers, see below.

Manual User Directory / Active Directory (Without SSO)

If your user accounts are either stored on PolicyStat, or you use Active Directory (users sign in with the same credentials as they log in to your network), add the following text to the end of your regular link to open PolicyStat. This includes links to open specific policies.

&next=%2Fhome%2F%3Fwalkme%3D{{HELPGUIDE ID #}}

Example URL:
http://demo.policystat.com/&next=%2Fhome%2F%3Fwalkme%3D246289

  • demo represents the subdomain for your local site.
  • 246289 represents the unique ID number associated with the Searching walk-through. To test and use the Searching walk-through on your site, copy the URL and simply adjust the subdomain demo. For other common walk-through ID numbers, see below.

Single Sign On

If your site uses a Single-Sign-On service to log users in, simply add the extension

?walkme={{HELPGUIDE ID #}}

to the end of the desired URL.

A sample URL is displayed below. Any text contained within this sample URL that is bolded and colored red would need to be modified to adapt to local site setup.

Example URL:
http://demo.policystat.com/?walkme=246289

  • demo represents the subdomain for your local site.
  • 246289 represents the unique ID number associated with the Searching walk-through. To test and use the Searching walk-through on your site, copy the URL and simply adjust the subdomain demo. For other common walk-through ID numbers, see below.

If the user is already logged in to the Single-Sign-On service via their browser, they will be automatically directed to the appropriate site. If they are not signed in, the browser will hold the URL in its queue. They will be directed to the HelpGuide when the login process completes.
