Objective:
- To understand how to approve a pending policy
Environment:
- PolicyStat
Additional Information:
Approval Workflows are one of the Three Pillars of PolicyStat, and users assigned permissions to serve as Approvers are essential to the process. The interactive tutorial demonstrates how a document proceeds through a traditional Approval Workflow from the final edits to the document becoming active.
Procedure:
From the PolicyStat Home tab:

- Under the Policies Requiring Approval heading, click the document you wish to approve (or reject).
- Review the policy.
- Add feedback* in the Please leave your feedback field (optional).
*NOTE: Any feedback will be visible to any user with editing/approving rights on the policy.
- If a draft exists, you will be notified. To continue with the current version, click the checkbox to indicate that you understand a newer version of the document is in progress.
- Click Approve Policy.*
*NOTE: This sends the document to the next Approver in the Workflow or makes the document live/active if you are the final Approver in the Workflow.
Using the PolicyStat Notifications link:
- While logged in to PolicyStat, click the Notifications link in the toolbar on the top right of any PolicyStat page.
- Locate the document you wish to approve (or reject) and click the link.

*NOTE: Any feedback will be visible to any user with editing/approving rights on the policy.
- Click Approve Policy.*
*NOTE: This sends the document to the next Approver in the Workflow or makes the document live/active if you are the final Approver in the Workflow.

*NOTE: This will be visible to any user with editing/approving rights on the policy.
- Click Approve Policy.*
*NOTE: This will send it to the next Approver in the Workflow or make it live/active if you are the final Approver.
Are the changes simple and require an Override instead?
PolicyStat allows Administrative Overrides for Site Admins for cleaning up text edits or other minor errors. To find out more, see this article.
Can I Mark Approvals in Bulk?
If no changes have been made to the content or properties during the review, a group of policies can be approved in bulk. For more on the process, see this article.
How does the Approval Workflow work, exactly?
The diagram below is an example of how new and revised policies go from "draft" mode to "active" by going through the approval process. If any of the Approvers rejects the proposed changes and re-pends for approval, the process starts over and the draft goes back to the first Approver.
